WAKING INTO YESTERDAY
©all rights reserved
Some mornings, you wake up and your mind is already somewhere else. Not in today. Somewhere behind you, replaying a moment, something said, something done, something you wish had gone differently.
And that's okay. Truly. We're not built to reset overnight. We're human, and we carry things. Sometimes those things follow us into the next day whether we invite them or not.
"You don't have to leave yesterday behind all at once, some days, you just carry it a little more gently."
You don't have to fight your way out of yesterday. You can just notice you're there. Notice the pull of it. And then, gently... no rush... turn your attention toward whatever is right in front of you now. A breath. A sound. The simple fact that you're here, in a new day, even if part of you hasn't caught up yet.
Being present has a quiet way of working on us. It doesn't ask you to explain your feelings or fix them right away. It just asks you to show up with whatever you've got, even if what you've got is a heavy heart still tangled in yesterday's hours. A slow breath. A pause. One honest thought: "I'm still here."
"Today doesn't care where your mind was five minutes ago. It only asks where you are now."
So if you wake up and find yourself back in yesterday, don't judge it. Just take one small step forward, however small that looks for you. That's how you move gently into today, not by forcing yesterday away, but by giving today a quiet invitation to begin.
