THE LONG YES

©all rights reserved

There is a yes that lives underwater. You don't hear it, you feel its current, moving slow beneath everything else you're doing. It doesn't ask to be noticed. It just keeps pulling you toward the shore you haven't seen yet.

Some yeses are lightning. This one is root.

"Roots don't reach for the sun, they reach for what will hold them, and the sun comes anyway."

We're taught to look for the moment things change, the door swinging open, the sign in the sky. But most transformation happens the way stone becomes sand: quietly, by water that never stopped moving, that never asked for credit.

The long yes is water. It doesn't argue with the rock. It just keeps returning.

"What softens you was never the storm, it was the rain that kept coming back, gentler than you expected, longer than you hoped."

Somewhere between who you were and who you're becoming, there's a version of you saying yes in the dark, to the page, the silence, the practice, the not-knowing. That version doesn't need applause. It only needs to keep breathing in the direction of tomorrow.

"You are not becoming something new. You are wearing away everything that was never you to begin with."

Maybe the long yes isn't a decision at all. Maybe it's closer to weather, something that moves through you without permission, shaping you the way wind shapes a coastline, one invisible pass at a time.

And one day, without ceremony, you'll look back and realize: you were never waiting for a sign. You were the sign, all along, becoming, breath by breath, the shape only time could carve.
